Quick answer: enter Woyaopp at the NES in your Pallet Town bedroom for the Rare Candy supply, or EZCatch for easier catching. These are in-game passwords, not codes for an emulator's cheat box. See all five NES passwords.
What “checked” means here: the sources and code strings have been reviewed. PokeCoders reports testing the selected external codes on v4.1; CheatCodeDB has not independently play-tested this collection. A published test report does not guarantee the same result on every emulator, modified build or save. See sources and testing scope.
Before entering anything: make an in-game save and export a separate backup of the save file. Keep that untouched copy outside your emulator's normal save location. A save state alone is not a substitute for a clean backup.

Radical Red's built-in NES cheat passwords
Go upstairs in your house in Pallet Town, stand in front of the NES beside the television, and interact with it. Type one password at a time using the game's letter-entry screen. Keep the capitals exactly as shown and wait for the confirmation message.
You do not need an emulator master code or an internet connection for these passwords. Copying one to your clipboard does not automatically enter it into the game; if your emulator cannot paste into the game's letter-entry screen, type it with the in-game controls.
Rare Candy cheat: Woyaopp
Woyaopp
After entering it, visit the Youngster in the grass in Viridian City. He supplies Rare Candies and Pomeg Berries. The password enables the NPC reward; it does not instantly fill your Bag.
- Enter the password at the NES and finish the dialogue.
- Travel to Viridian City and speak to the Youngster in the grass.
- Collect the items, then check your Bag before using them.
- Use the candies for training and the Pomeg Berries when you want their friendship effect.
Need money too? Sell some of the supplied items at a Poké Mart and return for more when needed. This is a repeatable supply-and-sell method, not a code that immediately sets your wallet to a specific number.
Important v4.1 feature: enabling Woyaopp also unlocks Set to Level Cap at the Pokémon Center assistant. It can skip evolutions and learned moves. If you want to follow normal level-up prompts, use individual Rare Candies instead; check moves and evolution requirements before your next battle. The level cap still matters.

100% catch-rate password: EZCatch
EZCatch
Gives ordinary Poké Balls a guaranteed catch rate for eligible wild captures. You still need to throw a ball. It is not a way to steal a trainer's Pokémon or bypass a scripted situation where catching is unavailable.
If you only want reliable catches, start here. You may not need to inject Master Balls into the save at all.
Item care packages: SO2Toxic
SO2Toxic
Enables item care packages tied to progress, reducing repetitive item farming. Treat it as a supply feature, not an instant “every item in the game” unlock.
Common typo: the second character is the letter O, not zero. Enter the entire password exactly as shown.
See the opposing team: TeamPreview
TeamPreview
Reveals the opposing team in the game's team-view interface. Use the L control for the opponent view during battle; on a phone, make sure the emulator skin exposes the shoulder buttons.
This gives you information for planning a switch. It does not automatically select a winning move or remove the battle's restrictions.

02 / Optional emulator codes
CodeBreaker and GameShark cheats for Radical Red v4.1
The five external cheats below are listed in PokeCoders' v4.1 tested section. They are not independently play-tested here. Keep the code names in the emulator's description field and paste only the hexadecimal lines into its code field.
One external cheat at a time. In particular, the Master Ball and Rare Candy codes below target the same Item PC slot. Do not enable them together. Turn an external code off after checking the result, and retain your pre-cheat backup.
Master Balls in the Item PC
820257C4 0001
Use: enable the code, open the Item PC and withdraw the Master Balls. Disable it before normal play. Check the Bag to confirm the result.
The item-storage menu is different from Pokémon storage. Do not turn on another Item PC modifier while checking this one. For catching without an external code, see EZCatch.
Rare Candies in the Item PC
820257C4 0044
Use: enable the code, withdraw Rare Candies from the Item PC, then switch it off. Use Woyaopp instead if you prefer the built-in supply.
If a Pokémon stops levelling, check the current level cap before assuming that the candy code failed. Do not stack EXP codes to try to solve a progression restriction.
Money cheat
820257BC 423F
820257BE 000F
Use: add both lines as one CodeBreaker entry. Resume gameplay, check your money display, then disable the entry.
If the wallet does not change, stop and check the setup rather than repeatedly saving. The Woyaopp supply-and-sell method is an alternative that does not rely on these memory addresses.
Walk through walls
509197D3 542975F4
78DA95DF 44018CB4
Use: add both lines as one GameShark/Action Replay entry. Enable briefly; return to normally reachable ground before disabling.
Movement is not story progression. Passing a barrier does not complete the events it protects. Avoid skipping mandatory battles, entering unfinished areas or saving on inaccessible tiles. If you become trapped, reload the clean backup rather than adding a warp code.
Shiny wild Pokémon encounters
1670047D 04815C68
18452A7D DDE55BCC
Use: enable before a new wild encounter. Once it appears, disable the code before completing the capture and nickname sequence. Inspect the captured Pokémon before saving.
Check carefully: this is an external shiny modifier, not a normal shiny hunt. Name glitches are a documented concern with shiny cheats. If anything looks wrong, stop and restore your backup. Do not present modified encounters as unassisted shiny finds.
Want to hunt normally? The game's DexNav is worth learning; do not assume that enabling DexAll makes every encounter shiny.
Code strings, formats and external test claims: PokeCoders' Radical Red v4.1 cheat tests. Our backup and stop-before-saving steps are precautionary guidance, not additional gameplay testing.
Do you need a master code?
No extra master/enable block is listed for these five emulator entries. Each multi-line box is one complete cheat; its first line is not a separate master code. This does not establish compatibility with physical cheat cartridges. Do not add a master code from a different FireRed guide simply because another website lists one.
03 / A fresh playthrough
New Game+ Mystery Gift passwords
These four passwords belong at the Pokémon Center assistant to the right of Nurse Joy, under Mystery Gift. They are not NES passwords and are not GameShark codes. They require a New Game+ run; Mega also requires three Gym Badges.
Back up your completed save before starting another run. Do not overwrite it just to test a gift. Follow the game's own New Game+ confirmation rather than assuming that an ordinary new save qualifies.
Mega Ring and Mega Stones
New Game+ · Three Gym Badges required
MegaSeviian first-stage Pokémon
New Game+ · Receive the first-stage Seviian forms
SeviianSix random first-stage Pokémon
New Game+ · A starting-team gift, not a wild-encounter randomizer
Random6Skip the supported puzzle challenges
New Game+ · Speak to the relevant puzzle NPCs for their rewards
PuzzleSources: the archived feature changelog and v4.1-era player reports. Do not interpret Puzzle as a guarantee that every map puzzle or story event is bypassed.

How to enter Radical Red cheat codes in an emulator
First establish which kind of code you are using. A valid code pasted into the wrong input box is one of the easiest problems to avoid.
| What you have | Where it goes | Example |
|---|---|---|
| NES password | The NES in your Pallet Town bedroom | Woyaopp |
| New Game+ gift | Pokémon Center assistant → Mystery Gift | Mega |
| Hexadecimal code | Your GBA emulator's cheat editor, with the stated format | The Master Ball CodeBreaker block |
- Confirm the release. This article covers Radical Red v4.1. The hack version is not the same thing as the original FireRed v1.0 base. A translated build or extra patch may behave differently.
- Save and export a backup. Keep a clean copy before experimenting. Do not rely only on the emulator's automatic save or a state created after cheats were enabled.
- Open the cheat editor. In a GBA emulator that supports cheats, choose its add-cheat function. Menu names differ between applications and versions.
- Separate name from code. Put a name such as “Master Balls — RR 4.1” in the description/name field. Click this page's Copy code button and paste the result into the code field.
- Select the exact format. Choose CodeBreaker for the PC items and money, or the emulator's corresponding GameShark/Action Replay option for walls and shiny encounters. Do not change the code to make it fit the wrong format.
- Enable just one entry. Resume the game and perform that cheat's stated action. Multi-line entries must retain every line and all leading zeroes.
- Disable, inspect, then decide whether to save. Make sure normal gameplay still works. Keep the original backup even if the initial result looks correct.
Delta on iPhone: pause the game, open Cheat Codes, add a new entry, give it a name, choose its type, then enter the code. The official Delta cheat guide explains its editor. The NES passwords still belong inside the game, regardless of which GBA emulator you use.
Citra and JoiPlay are not the route for this game. Radical Red is a GBA ROM hack. It is different from a Nintendo 3DS game and from an RPG Maker fan game such as Unbreakable Ties. Do not use 3DS Gateshark files or JoiPlay's RPG Maker cheat menu for these codes.
For the difference between a cheat format, an address and a version mismatch, read our How Do Cheat Codes Work? guide.
05 / Troubleshooting
Radical Red cheats not working? Check these in order
- Check the destination first. Woyaopp belongs at the bedroom NES. Mega belongs under the Center's Mystery Gift menu. A hexadecimal block belongs in the emulator editor. Moving a password between these places will not activate it.
- Check spelling and complete lines. Preserve capitals in passwords, especially the O in SO2Toxic. Do not include headings, brackets, bullet characters or quotation marks in a code field.
- Check requirements and activation. Woyaopp needs the Viridian NPC interaction. New Game+ gifts need the correct run; Mega needs three badges. Item PC codes need the item-storage menu, not your Pokémon boxes.
- Check the game and code format. Confirm v4.1 and remove any uncertainty about extra patches. Match CodeBreaker or GameShark/Action Replay to the card, rather than trying unrelated master codes.
- Disable other external cheats. Test only the one entry you are investigating. Two cheats writing different items to the same place can conflict even when both strings are individually correct.
- Return to a clean session. With external cheats disabled, restart the game and load the untouched in-game save. Loading an old save state can bring the modified runtime state back.
- Stop if the problem persists. Restore the backup, record the emulator/version and exact symptom, and report it. Do not keep adding codes or save over your last good copy.
Turning a cheat off is not an undo button. Items, money or other changes already saved can remain. Removing an entry from the emulator does not necessarily reverse a built-in password's saved flag either. Your clean backup is the reliable return point.
What I would avoid on a valuable save
Avoid stacking all-badge unlocks, arbitrary warp codes, mass item injection and large encounter-modifier lists copied from another release. They can affect progression or use identifiers that changed in the hack. More codes do not automatically make a guide more useful.
For a specific Pokémon, first check the Radical Red Pokédex and the project documentation. A location or evolution answer may solve the problem without changing your save through an external code.
06 / Frequently asked questions
Pokémon Radical Red v4.1 cheat FAQ
What is the easiest Rare Candy method?
Start with Woyaopp at the NES, then speak to the Viridian City Youngster. If the game confirms the password but your Bag is unchanged, that NPC interaction is the next step. The separate Item PC code is optional.
Why will my Pokémon not level up after using Rare Candies?
Check the current level cap and your story progress. A training shortcut is not a promise to bypass the cap. If you used v4.1's Set to Level Cap service, also check for skipped move-learning and evolution steps.
Do I need Master Balls if EZCatch is enabled?
Not simply to guarantee an eligible wild capture: that is what EZCatch is for. The Master Ball code is for players who specifically want the item. Neither should be treated as permission to catch an opponent's Pokémon or bypass a capture lock.
Is DexAll the same as an all-Pokémon encounter cheat?
No. It reveals the DexNav's local encounter options. It does not fill your boxes or make every species appear in the current area. Look up a species' location and evolution method if it is missing.
Can I use these in Radical Red Hardcore or a randomized run?
Do not assume identical results across every mode and additional patch. Built-in options do not remove all mode restrictions, and this article does not claim that every external cheat has been tested in every configuration. Mention your difficulty, Minimal Grinding setting and randomizer settings when reporting an issue.
Do cheats affect RetroAchievements?
They can. The Radical Red achievement set has its own allowed-cheat rules. Check the current set instructions before enabling anything; do not assume all in-game passwords or emulator cheats qualify.
Why does Mega say the gift is unavailable?
Check that you are using the Pokémon Center assistant's Mystery Gift menu in a New Game+ run and have three Gym Badges. Mega is not a bedroom NES password. Follow the message the game displays instead of trying unrelated unlock codes.
Are there legendary Mystery Gifts as well?
Yes, but they are a separate category from the New Game+ convenience gifts above. Check the current project documentation and each gift's post-game requirements. A gift password is not a universal pre-League wild-encounter code.
Why does the copy button copy only the code?
Many emulator editors have separate name and code fields. The button leaves out headings and descriptions so that the code field receives only the required characters. For in-game passwords, you may still need to type them using the game's letter-entry screen.
Do I have to enable cheats in JoiPlay?
No. Radical Red uses a Game Boy Advance game file, not the RPG Maker format handled by that JoiPlay plugin. Use a compatible GBA emulator and follow the code's in-game or emulator instructions.
Can I disable every cheat and recover my original save?
Disabling cheats stops their ongoing operation, but does not reliably reverse saved changes. Restore your separate pre-cheat backup if you need the original state. This is why the guide recommends a backup before the first password or memory code.
