Pokémon Quetzal v0.8.4 Cheat Codes

Get Rare Candies, Master Balls, maximum money, custom Pokémon, easy catches and faster EXP in Pokémon Quetzal. This guide starts with Quetzal's safer built-in cheat menu, then lists a small selection of external CodeBreaker codes with clear compatibility warnings.

Release covered: Alpha v0.8.4 Base game: Pokémon Emerald Primary method: Built-in Cheats mode External format: CodeBreaker Checked: 26 September 2026

Start here: use Quetzal's built-in cheats first

Pokémon Quetzal is unusual because it already contains a developer-built cheat system. You do not need an emulator code for the most requested effects, including Rare Candies, Master Balls, money, Pokémon generation and collision control.

Best choice: use the in-game menu whenever it provides the effect you want. It is designed around Quetzal's altered item and Pokémon data, while ordinary Pokémon Emerald codes may write to the wrong place.
Back up before changing anything. Make an in-game save and export a separate copy of the save file. Do not rely only on a save state, and test one function or external code at a time.

The v0.8.4 English build is catalogued as a 32 MB GBA ROM with CRC32 0BA1CD46, MD5 6311B396057531C3D3DBE51D6B00B189 and SHA-1 6806C7146AFF457A4BE85EF2030E9DDCDB17B665. Hashes identify a particular complete game file; patched, translated or modified builds can differ.

Testing scope: CheatCodeDB checked the published menu instructions, identifiers and code strings, but has not independently reproduced every effect on every emulator. Built-in functions have the strongest compatibility basis. External entries below are labelled as community-tested rather than guaranteed.

How to enable cheats in Pokémon Quetzal v0.8.4

  1. Start a new game and proceed through Quetzal's opening configuration.
  2. When the game-mode choices appear, select Cheats. Finish the remaining setup choices and enter the game.
  3. Press Start during normal gameplay.
  4. Open Misc, then choose Cheats.
  5. Select the required function, make one change and inspect the result before saving.

Can cheats be enabled on an existing save?

Quetzal v0.8.x allows several anti-grind and gameplay settings to be adjusted after starting, and players report finding Rare Candy and EXP options through the settings menu. However, the complete developer cheat menu is tied to the starting configuration. If your current save does not display Misc → Cheats, do not assume an Emerald master code will unlock it.

Check Options for available Cheats or anti-grind settings first. If the full menu is unavailable, keep the existing save untouched and create a separate Cheats-mode save rather than replacing hours of progress.

Pokémon Quetzal built-in cheat list

Menu wording can vary slightly between language builds. The following functions are associated with Quetzal's built-in system and do not require an emulator master code.

Wanted effectMenu functionImportant note
Rare CandiesGive Item → Rare Candy / item ID 0066Choose a sensible quantity instead of filling every bag slot.
Master BallsGive Item → Master Ball / item ID 0004Add only what you need, then exit the menu.
Maximum moneyMax MoneyPublished menu documentation reports a balance of 999,999,999.
Any PokémonPokémon [level]Select a species and level before confirming.
Custom or shiny PokémonAdvanced Pokémon generatorCan configure level, shiny/radiant status, gender, nature, ability, IVs and moves.
Walk through wallsFlags → CollisionDisable it before doors, stairs, scripts and saving.
Faster levellingFlags / Options → EXP multiplierUse a modest multiplier to avoid exceeding a level cap.
No wild encountersFlags → EncounterWorks like a persistent repel; turn it off when hunting Pokémon.
Avoid trainer battlesFlags → Trainer seeMay interfere with expected progression if left enabled.
Catch a trainer's PokémonFlags → Trainer catchingExperimental for a separate save; story battles may behave unexpectedly.
All badgesFlags → All BadgesCan skip progression flags. Avoid on your main story save.
Complete PokédexFlags → All Pokédex FlagChanges completion data without completing individual encounters.
Full recoveryUtilities → Heal PartyA safer convenience option than editing battle HP externally.
TeleportUtilities → Fly or WarpUse normal Fly where possible; a raw warp can place you inside an unfinished event.

Rare Candy cheat

  1. Open Start → Misc → Cheats.
  2. Select Give Item.
  3. Choose Rare Candy. If the menu displays IDs, Rare Candy is listed as 0066.
  4. Set the quantity, confirm it, then check the Medicine pocket.

Avoid older “Rare Candy in PC” Emerald codes. Quetzal players have reported that PC withdrawals can fail, and shop replacement codes can crash modified builds.

Master Ball cheat

  1. Open the built-in Give Item function.
  2. Select Master Ball, shown as item ID 0004.
  3. Choose a quantity and confirm.
  4. Inspect the Poké Balls pocket before saving.

Maximum money

Choose Max Money from the built-in cheat menu, return to normal gameplay and reopen your Trainer information or a shop. If the display has not refreshed, leave the current menu and check again. Do not stack an external money code on top of this function.

Shiny Pokémon and custom Pokémon

The advanced Pokémon generator is safer than a generic shiny encounter code because it can create a selected Pokémon with chosen attributes. Review its level, species, shiny or radiant status, nature, ability, IVs and moves before confirming. Put experimental creations on a separate save and do not use modified Pokémon in online or competitive play.

Pokémon Quetzal v0.8.4 external cheat codes

Use these only if the built-in system does not provide what you need. Add each block as its own CodeBreaker entry. The name belongs in the emulator's name field; the copy button copies only the hexadecimal code.

Compatibility warning: these codes are published by the Quetzal cheat community and may work differently across v0.8.4 builds and emulators. They are not ordinary Pokémon Emerald guarantees. Disable every unrelated code before testing one.
